Note: these directions assume you are visiting when reservations are not required, from April 1 through December 15 -- if you want a hike from December 15-March 31, you must have reservations, and meet your docent at the Marine Education Center.
Mile:
0.0: Begin at the trailhead at the southwest corner of the parking lot. Walk toward the Marine Education Center.
0.1: Marine Education Center. Get visitor permit here, then begin walking on ño Nuevo Point Trail.
0.2: Junction with New Years Creek Trail. Continue straight on Año Nuevo Point Trail.
0.3: Junction with trail to Cove Beach. Continue straight.
0.8: Wildlife Protection Area Trailhead. If you are visiting during permitted months and have a visitor permit, continue straight on Año Nuevo Point Trail.
1.3: Junction at crest of dune. Stay to the right, toward the North Point Seal Viewpoint.
1.5: Path to Bight Beach Viewpoint. Turn left.
1.5: Bight Beach Viewpoint. Enjoy, then return to previous junction. 1.5: Turn left, toward North Point Seal Viewpoint. 1.7: Path to viewpoint. Turn left. At the edge of the bluff, look right to North Point. Return to main trail, then turn left.
1.8: North Point Seal Viewpoint, and end of the trail. When ready, retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
3.6: Back at the parking lot.

Getting there:
From CA 1 in San Mateo County, turn west into the park. The entrance is 12 miles south of Pescadero Road, 3 miles south of Rossi Road, and just north of the (signed) San Mateo/Santa Cruz County border.
