0.0: Begin at the edge of the parking lot on a wide paved road.
0.1: A private road bends left. Continue straight, through the gate.
0.2: Multiple junction. Turn right onto a trail unnamed at the signpost.
0.3: Unsigned T junction. Turn left.
0.3: Two other unsigned paths depart to the right. Continue straight, on a level
ridgetop trail.
0.4: Multiple junction. Take the second, soft right, uphill on a fire road through
coast live oaks.
0.5: Junction with a path to the right. Continue straight.
0.5: Junction, saddle, and picnic table. Turn left, then look on the right for
a footpath, starting near the #11 post.
0.6: Fork. Stay to the right.
0.7: In a clump of young coast live oak just before a steep descent, turn left
and head uphill.
0.7: Ridge and T junction. Turn right.
0.9: T junction at park boundary. Turn left.
1.0: Junction with a fire road, on the left. Continue straight.
1.0: In a low, bare open spot, the official trail heads uphill to the left, to
a previously encountered junction. You can also veer slightly right, rejoining
the fire road near a gate.
1.0: Fire road. Turn right and retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
1.2: Back at the trailhead.
Getting there:
From Highway 29 in Napa County, exit 1st Street/Downtown Napa. Drive west on 1st
Street (which becomes Browns Valley Road) about 0.8 mile, then turn left into
the park.
