Note: Some of these trails may pass through private property, but as of October 2002, the land is unfenced, not signed as private, and commonly used by local runners, walkers, and equestrians. If on your visit, conditions have changed, respect fences and signs and reroute your hike.
Mile:
0.0: Begin at the parking lot, and start on a paved trail near the portable toilets.
0.1: Bear right as a service road continues straight.
0.1: The paved trail veers right. Bear left onto a dirt fire road.
0.1: Junction. Turn right, then stay straight as another trail breaks off to the right.
0.6: Junction with another fire road. Turn right and head uphill.
0.6: Junction. Continue straight.
0.7: Crest, junction, and reservoir view. Turn right.
0.8: Junction. Turn right onto a footpath.
0.9: Junction. Turn left onto the fire road.
1.0: Multiple junction. Turn right onto a steep uphill path.
1.0: Junction with fire road. Continue straight.
1.2: Junction with paved trail. Turn right.
1.5: Junction, again. Turn left and retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
1.6: Back at the parking lot.

Getting there:
From Highway 101 in Marin County, exit Highway 37. Drive east about 7 miles, then turn north onto Highway 121. Drive northeast about 7.3 miles, then turn north onto Highway 12. Drive about 3.6 miles north to downtown Sonoma (where Highway 12 takes a sharp left at a stop sign), then continue on Highway 12 about 6.5 miles to the signed park entrance on the left side of the road.
