Mile:
0.0: Walk west toward the reservoir and take the paved trail to the right.
0.1: Go through the gate onto the dirt multi-use trail.
0.6: Junction just before Hetch Hetchy Group Camp. Turn right onto Hetch Hetchy Trail.
1.0: Junction. Hetch Hetchy Trail continues straight, on its way to meet up with Ridgeline Trail. Take the trail to the right, signed "to Hidden Canyon Trail."
1.2: Spur trail ends at a junction with Hidden Canyon Trail. Turn left onto Hidden Canyon Trail.
1.4: Junction. Continue straight on Hidden Canyon Trail.
1.5: Junction. Turn left onto Eagle Crest Trail.
1.7: Eagle Crest Trail ends at T junction. Turn right onto Ridgeline Trail, and climb a bit more to the crest.
1.8: Junction with the East Ridge Trail. Continue to the right on Ridgeline Trail.
2.2: Junction near the other end of Eagle Crest Trail. Bear left to stay on Ridgeline.
2.6: Junction with Squirrel Gulch Trail. Continue to the left on Ridgeline.
2.9: Junction. The trail to the left ends at Del Valle Road. Continue straight on Ridgeline Trail.
3.1: Junction. Turn right to stay on Ridgeline.
3.3: Junction with East Tank Loop. Continue straight on Ridgeline.
3.4: Junction with other end of East Tank Loop; continue straight on Ridgeline.
3.7: Ridgeline Trail ends, along with the terminus of Lake View Trail, at a gate across the street from a parking lot. Turn right and walk along the road back to the Marina parking lot.
3.9: Back at the Marina parking lot.
Getting there:
From I 580 in Alameda County, exit Central Livermore/North Livermore Avenue (ext 52b). Drive south on North Livermore, which turns into South Livermore, passes through downtown, makes a sharp left curve, and turns into Tesla Road (about 3.5 miles from 580). Just past the curve, look for the brown "parks" sign and turn right onto Mines Road. Drive about 3.5 miles, at which point Mines Road veers left. Follow the brown parks signs, and stay straight on Del Valle Road about another 3.5 miles to the park entrance kiosk, on the right side of the road. Park near the snack bar if possible.
