North Bay Hikes joined the Petaluma Paddlers for a 5 mile hike on Ring Mountain, a small preserve which is between Corte Madera and Tiburon in Marin. The main attraction was the rare Tiburon Mariposa Lily, which was in bloom. This lily is adapted to a serpentine environment and only grows on Ring Mountain. Additionally, this area has very interesting geology and Native American sites. There are also beautiful views of the bay, Angel Island, and the San Francisco skyline. Sadly, there has been some vandalism since I was last there, the stone "turtle" on top of Turtle Rock has been broken and the rock with petroglyphs has been scratched up with graffiti. Pictures are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/qlobata/RingMountain# Ring Mountain page, with trail map link: http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/PK/Main/mcosd/os_park_24.asp -Paul
