We hiked the west side of the Pinnacles National Monument last Saturday, which is accessed from Soledad and Hwy 101.  We did an 8.4 mile loop with 1540' of elevation gain, hiking the Juniper Canyon Trail to the High Peaks, then taking the High Peaks Trail down to Chalone Creek and The Old Pinnacles Trail to the Balconies Cave.  After clambering thru the cave we took the Balconies Trail back to the Chaparral Ranger Station.  It was unseasonably warm, mid 80's, but it was still a nice day.

Amigos,

Sadly, condors are still dying from lead poisoning. When will laws change or people get smart / compassionate?
